Step 1: Get a Fishing Rod

The rod unlock steps are:
- Find Echo the Ghost Dog and collect his four missing items: the Collar, Dog Bone, Teddy Bear, and Ghost Photo.
- Return the items to Echo.
- Follow Echo to the ghost fisherman at the dock.
- Talk to the fisherman to receive your fishing rod.
For the collection locations, use the Echo the Ghost Dog quest guide. If you already have the rod, head straight to a body of water.
Step 2: Fish in Any Body of Water on the Map
Eternal Ghost Fish can be fished up at any body of water on the map. A small pond in the Halloween Dimension is one option; use your fishing rod at the water to start fishing.
You do not need to find one specific pond for Ghost Fish. Choose a small pond and keep fishing. An ordinary catch will usually be candy or a regular egg; getting those rewards does not mean you are fishing in the wrong place.
Fishing Tip: Aim for a Perfect Cast
When you Hold to Cast, a Charge indicator appears. Watch the Luck Boost as you charge, and try to release in its highest-value range to land a Perfect cast. This can slightly improve your chance of catching Ghost Fish, so aim for a Perfect cast on each attempt. The exact probability increase has not been disclosed.
Step 3: Wait for a Fish to Pull You Into the Pond
While fishing, there is a chance that a fish will pull you into the water. This encounter starts the minigame you need to complete for Ghost Fish.
The encounter is not guaranteed on each attempt. The percentage chance has not been disclosed, and no fixed number of catches is specified, so keep fishing if you only receive ordinary rewards.

The key is to finish the challenge after triggering the encounter. Simply casting the rod or being pulled into the water is not the complete unlock process.
What Is Ghost Fish Used For?
Ghost Fish is also part of the secret fusion introduced in Steal an Egg Update #10: Halloween Part 2. The fusion requires 2 Ghost Fish (Eternal) and 2 Divine Voidseer Pumpkins with another player at the hidden fusion machine inside the Abandoned Manor to unlock Divine Cursed Monarch. Both players must each have one Eternal Ghost Fish and one Divine Voidseer Pumpkin. Divine Voidseer Pumpkin is obtained during global spawn, similar to other Divine spawns.
